We had a nice weekend in the Dartmoor area and stayed at a camping and caravanning club site at Lydford which is on the West side of Dartmoor.
Open this link for an Aerial view of the camp site.

Lydford and the surrounding area is great for walking or cycling, with a 11-mile cycle and walk way from Lydford to Okehampton which is part of the National Cycle Network so this is a good site to use as a base camp.
Facilities available at Lydford on the site include: toilets, showers, electric hook-up, dishwashing, laundry, area for ball games and a dog-walk. Non-members are also welcome welcome.

Lydford Gorge is a nice place to take a walk with the deepest gorge in the South West of England.

Just North up the A386 is a place called Bearslake with a Pub/Restaurant of the same name, Nice friendly place with good food and Beer Garden out the back. Bearslake Inn

Tavistock is about 15 min drive south and has a good swimming pool for the kids also a fair few shops to have a good look around.
