Fairford Air Tattoo

We have now been to the RAF Fairford Air Tattoo several times now, the first time we went was in 2003 the kids did not really want to go, but after the first hour we could not have dragged them away even if we wanted to. Also under 16 get in free.

The kids still get enjoyment out of watching all the aircraft and walking around the static displays.
The Red Arrows of course always put on a good display as do several other aircraft.

The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the worlds largest military Air Show and is fun for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. There is lots to see and do as well as the aircraft at Fairfords Air Tattoo, there are lots of ground displays and plenty of other stands and things to see and do.

Over 300 Aircraft and 8 hours of flying displays, all day ground displays and entertainment and a free evening concert. All so there is a fun fair for the kids.

The traffic trying to get to Fairford can get a little bad at times but is much worse trying to get out, so a little patience is needed or just spend an other hour looking around the stands before making your way out, or stay that bit longer for the free evening concert.

There are plenty of various stands at the airtatto from all of the armed services and several other civilian stands selling and showing off their wares.
Fairford Air Tattoo is a great family day out even if it is a bit on the costly side.

TIPS

Tip No.1 There are plenty of food stalls around but it is a good idea to bring a picnic and spend any spare cash on Ice creams or other treats you may wish to buy from the stalls or stands
Tip No.2 There are free Water Bowsers spread around, So buy or bring a bottle that can be refilled with water. If its a hot day you will need the fluids.
Tip No.3 If its hot slap on the sun cream as the sun will also be reflecting off the concrete and you can easily get sunburnt and you do not want to spoil a great day with sun stroke or sunburn.
Tip No.4 Get some ear plugs or ear protectors for the kids, the loud jet noise can be frightening for the young ones until they get use to it.

Tip No.5 Best tip is to enjoy the day at Fairford.
